If you have followed this blog for a while — or even if this is your very first visit — you have probably seen Buddha proudly featured on the homepage as our “Editor.” That title came naturally to him because anytime I opened my laptop to write, Buddha was right there beside me, making sure everything met his approval.

Sadly, Buddha passed away unexpectedly, and I wanted to dedicate a special post just to him. He deserved that and so much more.
Buddha started out as our youngest son’s puppy. After a few years, our son joined the military, and Buddha officially became part of our home. Thankfully, the transition was easy because Buddha and my husband had always shared a special bond. Buddha had stayed with us for short periods when he was younger, so coming back felt natural to him.

At the time, we also had two other dogs, Riley and Bella. Bella and Buddha quickly became the best of friends. Riley, however, was older, sick, and not always very welcoming to the energetic new addition. That never seemed to bother Buddha one bit. He loved everyone anyway.

Before long, Buddha and my husband became completely inseparable. Buddha even went to work with him almost every day. He was a very busy guy — spending his days serving as the unofficial customer service representative for my husband and oldest son, then spending evenings helping me “edit” this blog.

Buddha was truly the funniest dog I have ever known. He had a confidence about him that was impossible not to love. I would rub his big chest and tell him he was the most handsome boy in the world, and without fail, he would puff his chest out even farther and lift his chin high into the air like he completely believed it. Honestly, he probably did.
Every evening when I came home from work, Buddha and Bella would be waiting at the door to greet me. After I took them outside, we would come back in, and I had a very important routine to follow: I had to sit on the bottom step of our staircase so Buddha could “tell me” about his day. If I forgot, he would absolutely remind me.

Buddha also had every qualification needed to be the editor of this blog. He had style, confidence, personality, and he was incredibly handsome.

Now, he did have one slightly questionable quality — he could be a bit of a stalker. More than once, I would look up and find him silently sitting there, staring at me or my husband. But even then, he was such a cute stalker that it was impossible to be bothered by it.

Our home feels different without him. This blog feels different without him. And my heart will never quite be the same. There is so much more I could say about my “big guy” however I am going to keep that close for now.

Buddha was deeply loved, endlessly funny, and impossible to forget. We miss him more than words can ever say.
Flauntly Yours,
A ♡
