Matching for Special Occasions

Which side are you on? Yay or nay?

When I hear people talking about it in general I feel most of them feel very strongly about loving to do it or not liking it at all.

There is a special event, such as a birthday, bachelorette party, trip with friends you only see once a year. Do you like wearing matching shirts or outfits for the event? Or do you hate it?

I used to not love the idea, thought it was kind of played out, but I have completely changed my mind.

The older I get the more I want experiences and to make memories. I want this way more than I want things.

Looking back at the trips, weddings, birthdays, bachelorette parties, I am so thankful I wore the matching outfits and took the pictures to look back at and remember the wonderful memories.

Birthdays are a big deal to me. Especially big ones. The picture above is from my friend, Corinne’s, 40th birthday, We took a trip to Charleston.

For my friend, Lauren’s 40th birthday we took a girls trip to Destin.

The picture above is another one of my friend Laurens birthdays. If you can not tell we were heading to a Carolina Panthers game.

Birthdays should be celebrated exactly how the person having the birthday wants. I always want the person having the birthday for feel like king or queen for the day. If they want everyone to wear the same thing, then wish granted. It is something small and easy to do to make them happy,

Another occasion to celebrate is a bachelorette party. The bride to be needs to feel like they are spoiled. So if matching shirts or outfits are a part of it, I am for it!

My girl Melissa is getting married this weekend and this was at her bachelorette weekend. She is a “Golden Girls” fan and we all chose different sayings to wear.

I do not mind the matching outfits or shirt thing at all. However, if you are one of the ones that do here are some tips for you.

If you are completely against the matching thing, there are still ways to participate and still be unique.

You can take your shirt and cut it so that is is unique. You are still matching and on theme, but still keep your uniqueness.

This was a girls trip to Disney. I do love these shirts. If you notice I am the one on the right. I took scissors to mine. I cut out the sleeves and the neck of my shirt. I did this because I do not like sleeves or things on my neck when I am hot. However, this works to make the matching shirt feel more like yourself.

Another way you can keep on theme and keep uniqueness as well, is to get the shirts in different colors. Same shirt as everyone, but you all pick your own color.

Another option is to tie the shirt up around your waist. This is a very simple way to make it your own.

I have been so blessed with great friends that are more like family. We have had many experiences together. I cherish these memories and pictures to look back on.

If you are some one that is completely against doing the matching or theme looks. I hope I have showed you some ways to still be able to be yourself but participate.

I hope you take my words into consideration. Do not miss out on the event, fun, or making memories. Live your life to the fullest and have great memories to look back on.

What are your thoughts on this? Have you worn matching shirts or outfits before? Leave your opinions in the comments or use #FlauntyYours on your social. I would love to hear your opinions and see your pictures if you have any.

Remember to be confident in what you wear and it will show. Flaunt what you have.

Flauntly Yours,
A

  1. I feel if it’s for a bride or birthday, bachelorette party, then you should do what the person of honor wants (within reason). If you’re their friend then you won’t hesitate. Another note: it makes finding the wardrobe easier because you’re not stressed about finding just the right outfit.
